The Area School MOCI class comprises 15-22-year-old students continuing their partnership with CTE Agriculture and collecting maple sap. Mr. Wood and his students taught our class to measure the sugar content of the sap using a hydrometer. The weather this year allowed us to collect sap for two weeks. #AreaSchool #MOCI #CGRESD #OurStory #CTE

New communication boards are coming to the playgrounds at Larson and Hillside Elementary Schools in Harrison to support students with communication needs. These boards will help ensure all students have a way to express themselves during play. The project was funded through a grant from Project Jade, an organization based in the Upper Peninsula. Special thanks to the special education staff, Assistant Principal Sandy Hargraves (pictured), and the CGRESD speech and OT teams for helping select the most effective visuals for the playgrounds! #CGRESD #ourstory

🥒 Pickleball Recap – We Came, We Pickled, We Conquered! 🏓 What a fantastic night we had at our Pickleball class! Thank you to everyone who came out and brought the energy, the laughs, and the serious paddle skills (or at least some great attempts 😄). A huge thank you to our incredible instructors, Cathy Troost and Maggie Black, for sharing their time, knowledge, and infectious love of the game. Your patience, encouragement, and sense of fun made the night a total win — and we’re all better picklers because of you! 💬 And of course, the post-match laughs might’ve been just as good as the games themselves. Let’s keep this momentum going! Stay tuned for more wellness events – because nothing brings people together like a little friendly competition and a whole lot of pickleball love. Until next time… keep it dill-lightful! 🟢✌️ – Your CGRESD Wellness Team #CGRESD #ourstory

Friday, April 11, was the night of enchantment at the Clare-Gladwin Area School Prom. The students had a great time dressing up, eating a delicious meal, and dancing the night away under the lights. The smiles and excitement make all the time and energy worth it. Special shout out to all the staff that helped make this night worth it for our students. As one student said, " This is the best Friday night I have had in a long time." #Areaschool #CGRESD #ourstory

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and on Fridays, we wear blue. National Child Abuse Prevention Month highlights the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Prevention services and supports can help parents, caregivers, and communities protect children and strengthen families. The Clare-Gladwin Great Start Collaborative showed their support by wearing blue at their quarterly board meeting. #CGRESD #ourstory #Childabusepreventionmonth

The Area School MOCI class of 15-22-year-old students has partnered with CTE Agriculture to tap maple trees around our school. Mr. Wood and some of his students taught our class how to measure the tree trunks to determine how many spiles each could handle and keep the tree healthy. Students each had the opportunity to drill holes and install each spile. Then, they hung the collection bags. Our students are very excited about this learning opportunity and another chance to work with the CTE program, and let's not forget the homemade maple syrup at the end of this adventure. #AreaSchool #MOCI #OurStory #CGRESD #CTE

CGRESD Employees are having a blast with the Easter Egg Scramble & Ramble! Since April 7, colorful Easter eggs have been popping up across CGRESD districts — and they’re packed with fun surprises. Launched by the CGRESD Wellness Committee, the Easter Egg Scramble & Ramble is all about spreading a little joy, one egg at a time. The fun continues through Friday, April 25. Here’s how it works: -When employees receive an egg, they have 24 hours to “egg” someone new. -Eggs are filled with small treats like candy, gum, mints, or a cheerful note. -Each egg includes an “I’ve Been Egged!” flyer, which the recipient posts on their door to show they’ve been egged. -The recipient then refills the egg, includes the flyer, and passes it on to someone new. -If an entire district has been egged, it’s time to spread the fun to another! The Wellness Team is loving the excitement — a little creativity and kindness can go a long way. CGRESD keep your eyes peeled — the next egg could be headed your way!

The Area School MOCI class comprised of 15-22-year-old students who volunteer weekly at MMCAA "Box Factory." Our students pack commodity boxes that are distributed to community members. On March 20, the students packed their 3000 boxes this school year. Students learn assembly line skills, teamwork, quality control, safety in a factory, a clean work environment, and more. Together, our class discusses and makes packing goals. Currently, they have a goal of packing 125 boxes each week to make their year-end goal of hitting 4000 boxes. Thank you MMCAA for partnering with us! #AreaSchool #OurStory #CGRESD #MMCAA #MOCI

Gladwin Intermediate Peer 2 Peer students practicing inclusion! One of our students on the Autism Spectrum began drawing on the chalkboard. Soon, she drew a crowd of students who joined her. Her Peer 2 Peer buddies quietly and happily created art alongside her. This student doesn’t often express herself with words, but in this moment, no words were needed. The kids simply enjoyed sharing in one of her favorite activities—expressing herself through art. What a wonderful example of inclusion and acceptance! #CGRESD #Gladwinitermediate #ourstory
