The Area School MOCI Class, made up of students ages 15-22, has been tracking the weather, sunrise, and sunset times each day. Students record the daily time, along with sunrise and sunset, to observe changes over time. Since December 19, 2024, we've gained just over an hour of daylight in the evenings alone! Through this project, students are learning how to check future weather to help plan ahead and understanding why daylight hours vary between winter and summer. #AreaSchool #MOCI #Transition #OurStory #CGRESD

The Area School MOCI Class comprises 15-22-year-old students who enjoy making knitted hats to donate to the local veterans. Our students are becoming quite skilled at knitting these hats with Sentro knitting machines. Thank you to everyone who has donated yarn to our project. We are still accepting yarn donations! You can drop off donations at the Area School office if you'd like to contribute. Through projects like this, students are learning how they can make a positive impact in their community.

In occupational therapy sessions, OTs encourage students to improve their fine motor and coordination skills by engaging in tasks that incorporate their "likes." Many of our students enjoy Toy Story, and the cubes and reusable stickers are good tools to help improve their in-hand manipulation and eye-hand coordination skills! Additionally, if the student has an AAC device, it can be modeled to "put more" pieces onto the board :) #CGRESD #ourstory
