In partnership with the Clare-Gladwin Area School Board Association, CGRESD welcomed local area School Board members, Superintendents, and other educational leaders from MMC and CGRESD this morning to discuss educational priorities with local legislators. Senator Roger Hauck and Representative Bill Shuette's Legislative Director, Luke Derheim, offered a summary of political activity in
Michigan and fielded questions from constituents. Clare-Gladwin ASBA is thankful for the legislators continued partnership in supporting education for all youth.

Each year, Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters around the country celebrate National FFA Week February 18 - 25. FFA founded 1928 is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
The FFA motto gives members 12 short words to live by as they experience the opportunities in the organization. Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve.

Interested in becoming a teacher? Join us for the FUTURE Michigan Educator Workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Clare-Gladwin RESD from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Learn about financial and other supports available to individuals who would like to become a teacher in Michigan. Representatives from the Michigan Department of Education and Clare-Gladwin RESD staff will facilitate this information session. CTE programs provide your students with hands-on training that can be applied to real-world, in-demand education, training, and career pathways. Thirty-eight students participated in the regional HOSA competition at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, December 9. Out of 42 teams competing, seven teams from health occupations program at Clare-Gladwin CTE were in the top eight, and three teams placed in the top three. Congratulations to all the students!

This year's CGRESD Holiday Card was designed using drawings submitted by students participating in the CGRESD SPARKS and IGNITE programs. It was a difficult task with so many excellent entries, but after careful consideration, five pieces of art were chosen for this year's card.




CELEBRATE NATIONAL SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY
Special Education Day is celebrated on December 2 to commemorate the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act into law on this day in 1975 (IDEA). IDEA granted children with special needs access to free and quality public education.
