CGRESD Pest Management:
Clare-Gladwin RESD and the John C. Magnus Center use a local vendor to maintain control of the pest population on its properties. The vendor is licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture, certified and insured. The vendor uses only EPA-registered products, utilizing the safest possible methods of pest control. CGRESD maintains a log book so that pest complaints, pesticide usage, comments and suggestions for cleaning or mechanical control measures and Material Safety Data information is logged for future reference. The pests covered under this agreement include carpenter ants, ants, spiders, roaches, bees, flies, wasps, crickets, rats and mice. Facilities are inspected on a monthly basis and treatment is performed where necessary.
Pest Management at the Clare-Gladwin Area School and the Clare-Gladwin Career & Technical Education programs:
At this time, all Clare-Gladwin Area School and CTE parents and guardians will be notified if emergency pesticide must be applied without prior notice. CGAS and CTE utilize an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to control pests. IPM is a pest management system that utilizes all suitable techniques in a total pest management system with the intent of preventing pests from reaching unacceptable levels or to reduce an existing population to an acceptable level.
CGAS and CTE are required by state regulation 637 to ask if parents would like to be notified of any pesticide application that might be needed in their child’s school during this school year. Pest control inspections are planned on a monthly basis. An insecticide application is only used when a problem is found at the property that cannot be corrected by other means than using insecticide. The monthly inspections are scheduled on the 3rd Thursday of every month.
In certain emergencies, pesticides may be applied without prior notice. Precautions will always be taken to insure the safety of the students.
Should you have any questions or concerns about pest management within your child’s school, or if you would like to be notified of emergency applications please contact:
