This document is help guide educators of grades 4 and 5 in research supported best practices.  Each of the 10 essential practices outlined in the document can have a positive impact on literacy development.  These practices are meant to be implemented every day for every student in classrooms. 

The purpose of this set of instructional practices is to support teachers of various curricular areas in grades 6-12 in academic literacies and content learning.  Research suggest that the practices outlined per content area in this document can have a positive impact on both literacy development and conceptual learning of content.
