ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY
Special Education Programs and Services
Assistive Technology (AT) is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of a student with disabilities.
Who is eligible to receive Assistive Technology assistance and how is that determined?
Students who have difficulty accessing educational materials or participating in their curriculum may be eligible to receive AT assistance as a supplementary service within an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
The specific need for AT assistance is determined by a team of individuals who are knowledgeable about the student’s needs and abilities, the demands of customary environments, the student’s educational objectives and tasks, and supports.
Consideration of AT is an ongoing process that occurs throughout the duration of the student’s education.
How can I get started with AT assistance?
The local district team completes the Assistive Technology review form and returns the completed form to the Assistive Technology Administrator.
