Work-Based Learning for Students

LEARN TODAY. WORK TOMORROW.
Work-Based Learning gives students the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience careers firsthand. Whether through job shadowing, mentoring, internships or paid employment, students build confidence, develop workplace skills and discover what career path is right for them.
WHAT IS WORK-BASED LEARNING?
Work-Based Learning is an important part of the Clare-Gladwin Career & Technical Education program. It helps prepare students for success after high school by giving them opportunities to learn from industry and community professionals.
Work-Based Learning experiences are designed to help students extend what they are learning in the classroom, develop skills over time and make progress toward career readiness.

LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Work-Based Learning does not always take place at a workplace or during a regular workday. The most important part is that students are interacting with industry and community professionals while making meaningful connections between those experiences and what they are learning in their CTE program. These real-world experiences help reinforce classroom instruction and prepare students for future education and careers.
