Course Overview
Public Safety allows students to explore careers in law enforcement, corrections, emergency services, security and legal professions. Students learn through classroom instruction, demonstrations, activities, guest speakers and practical applications led by an instructor actively involved in law enforcement.
Students have opportunities to:
Learn investigation, forensics and crime scene procedures
Explore criminal law, court systems and public safety careers
Develop leadership, communication and teamwork skills
Practice emergency response and community service concepts

Length of Program
One year, two semesters
Second year optional for qualified students
Program Schedule
AM Session 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
PM Session 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Learning Environment
Students spend time in the classroom participating in discussions, activities and weekly physical training. Guest speakers and community professionals provide real-world perspectives on careers in public safety and protective services.
