
Course Overview
Health Occupations is designed to expose students to a variety of careers within the health care field. Students learn the fundamentals of patient care, health science, professionalism and workplace readiness while exploring opportunities in nursing, allied health, veterinary medicine and other health-related professions.
Students have opportunities to:
Explore a variety of health care career pathways
Practice clinical and patient care skills in a lab setting
Participate in clinical experiences within community health care facilities
Develop professional communication, teamwork and workplace skills

Program Schedule
A.M. Session
8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
P.M. Session
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Length of Program
One year, two semesters
Second year is optional for qualified students
Learning Environment
Students split time between the classroom and lab during the first semester while learning the basics of health care. In the second semester, students may participate in clinical experiences in local hospitals, nursing homes and other community health care settings.

“Students who enroll in this program must be able to work independently. Academic expectations are high, and professional conduct and dress are required at clinical sites. All immunizations must be up to date, and a TB skin test is required before clinical placement.”
