Enrollment Process

The Clare-Gladwin Regional Education Service District (CGRESD) Career & Technical Education (CTE) program provides center-based Career and Technical Education opportunities for high school students throughout the CGRESD service area. Because CGRESD serves as a regional educational service agency, students are not directly enrolled through the CTE program. Instead, enrollment is coordinated through each student's local school district.

Students attending the following partner school districts are eligible to enroll in CGRESD CTE programs through their high school: Beaverton Rural Schools, Clare Public Schools, Farwell Area Schools, Gladwin Community Schools, and Harrison Community Schools.

Career & Technical Education (CTE) Enrollment Guidelines

To ensure fair and equitable access to Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs and to comply with applicable Michigan pupil accounting rules, regulations, and legislation, the Clare-Gladwin Regional Education Service District (CGRESD) has established the following enrollment guidelines.

Student Eligibility

Students must be enrolled in one of the Clare-Gladwin RESD (CGRESD) constituent school districts to participate in Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. Eligible school districts include:

  • Beaverton Rural Schools

  • Clare Public Schools

  • Farwell Area Schools

  • Gladwin Community Schools

  • Harrison Community Schools

Students who are homeschooled or enrolled in a virtual school must reside within one of the CGRESD constituent school districts and must enroll at least half-time through their resident public school district to participate in a CGRESD CTE program.

Students who reside outside the CGRESD service area should contact the CTE Administration Office to discuss available enrollment options. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

*High school counselors will help students explore career pathways, understand program requirements, and choose the CTE program that best aligns with their interests and future plans.

Enrollment Process

Program Information - Each winter, CGRESD shares available CTE programs and anticipated openings for the following school year with its constituent school districts. Returning students in good standing receive priority enrollment, provided they continue to meet program requirements.

Student Recommendations - High school counselors work with students to identify appropriate CTE opportunities and submit enrollment requests during the annual registration process. Students are generally expected to have junior or senior status by the start of the school year. Requests for students who do not meet this guideline may be considered on an individual basis.

Enrollment Review - Enrollment requests are reviewed in collaboration with each constituent school district. When demand exceeds available space, enrollment is balanced among participating districts to provide equitable access for students across the region.

Late Enrollment - Enrollment remains open as space permits until programs reach capacity or through the second week of classes. Requests received after that time may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Enrollment in CTE Programs Outside of CGRESD

Students may be considered for enrollment in a Career & Technical Education program offered by another Michigan intermediate school district when the desired program is not available through CGRESD. Requests should be initiated through the student's high school counselor and will be reviewed on an individual basis in accordance with applicable agreements and available openings.
