Information: Each class has gym three times a week. (Monday, Wednesday and Friday; so please remember gym shoes.) Most classes begin with a series of warm-up exercises, and then we walk for 10-15 minutes. We participate in a different sports or activity each month. Examples include physical fitness testing, soccer, floor hockey, basketball, volleyball, softball/t-ball, kickball, gymnastics, group games, targets, and roller-skating. We participate in quite a variety of physical activities. For some classes we enjoy many sensory (tactile, water, different textures, vibrations, and massage) activities and large equipment activities. I offer many different activities for our entire school population.
In music, we do several activities to practice getting the BEAT of music. We listen to many different types of music and play different games to encourage our students to sing. We sing seasonal songs, listen to opera and classical music and students are encouraged to bring in tapes or CDs (G rating) for the class to enjoy. Often the older students will perform several songs for the younger students in the building. This is a popular activity enjoyed by all.
